Start with the place
Donkey Town sits right off the Highway 89 corridor outside Truckee, near the Truckee River and Jackass Point area. It is easy to reach, which is part of the appeal, and also why it can get busy fast when the weather is good.
This is a very Truckee kind of ride: close to town, short enough for a quick lap, and still full of dirt, turns, features, and trail traffic that deserve your attention.

How the ride feels
Donkey Town is short, lively, and full of personality. It is the kind of loop people squeeze in after work, but it still has enough features to keep you honest.
The loop climbs from Highway 89, links singletrack, and adds the Jackass Point loop before sending you back down through berms, jumps, and rock rolls.
Finding your way
Start with the dirt road climb from Highway 89. Watch for signs and turn right into the singletrack.
Use the Jackass Point loop, finish the climb, and descend back toward the highway. If you head to the river after the ride, cross Highway 89 with care and do not assume cars see you.
Who this ride is for
This loop fits riders who can handle trail features with control. Strong newer riders can still have fun, especially if they are willing to walk or skip anything that feels too much.
It is a popular spot. Stay inside your limits, give space, and do not turn the trail into a race course.
Keep it local
Check the California 89 Bike Card before you roll so the loop and trail names are clear. Donkey Town is short, but it is better when nobody is guessing at the turns.
Afterward, California 89 has the everyday gear that fits a dirt lap, a river stop, or a quick walk through town.
