Elizabethtown Meadows sits near Northstar on the Martis Valley side of Truckee. This part of town opens up into meadow views, road crossings, resort access, and a different feel than the tighter forest rides closer to Donner.
The Northstar Castle Peak lot makes the ride simple to find, but the beginning still takes a little care. Treat the road crossing like part of the route, then settle into the quieter meadow section once you are on dirt.

Elizabethtown Meadows starts gently, then gives you just enough downhill and return climbing to make it feel like a real ride. It is mellow, but not flat or boring.
Pause near the lower section for the Martis Valley view. It is a good place to take a breath before turning around.
Park at the Northstar Castle Peak lot and bring water. Ride to the stop light and cross the road with care.
After the walking bridge, turn left onto the trail. Spring and early summer can bring wildflowers, but only ride when the trail is dry.
Keep dogs close and under control, especially near other trail users and at the road crossing.
This is a good pick for newer riders who are ready for a short descent and a return climb. It also works well for Northstar guests who want a simple dirt ride without committing to a long route.
