Chimney Beach and Secret Cove sit along Tahoe's East Shore, south of Incline Village on Highway 28. This side of the lake is known for clear water, granite boulders, and small coves that feel tucked away even when the trail is busy.
The hike is short, but the beach plan takes a little care. Parking, road crossings, summer crowds, and beach etiquette all matter here.
The trail drops toward the lake, then moves near the water's edge. Secret Cove comes first, and Chimney Beach is a short detour on the way back.
The freestanding sfeel chimney in the sand is the landmark that gives Chimney Beach its name.
From Kings Beach, take Highway 28 east for about 12.5 miles to the small lot on the left. Cross the road with care to reach the lake side trailhead.
Secret Cove is clothing optional, so stay with Chimney Beach if that is not your plan.
