It’s hard to believe that in a few short weeks, we’ll be dusting off our winter gear and hitting the slopes. There is nothing quite like the buzz of anticipation as the snow begins to stick and we wait for the winter season to begin. Weather experts are predicting an El Niño with an above-average snowfall for the 23/24 season. After the last season, I think we're all geared up for big winters, so we say - bring it on.
To get the stoke started, we’ve compiled a list of most of the ski resorts in the Tahoe Basin’s opening dates and info:
November 9th
Mt. Rose
Mt. Rose is typically the first resort to open in the Tahoe Basin due to its higher base elevation and the early snowfall patterns that tend to benefit this area of Lake Tahoe. With little snow on the horizon, it's hard to believe they could open next week but, with extensive snow-blowing capabilities, it may just be possible.
November 17th
Boreal Mountain
Boreal Mountain, known for their terrain park and night skiing is another earlier season opener.
With its closer proximity to the Bay Area and the family-friendly environment, this is a great mountain to get reacquainted with your ski legs.

Heavenly Resort
Heavenly is one of the resorts addressing the ski traffic congestion in the area this year. They have implemented a combination of both free and paid parking this season. For more information - follow the link below.

Northstar Resort

November 22nd
Palisades Tahoe
Palisades Tahoe is also addressing the traffic issue in the North Lake Tahoe area. This will be the first season where you will need parking reservations during holidays and weekends. Sugar Bowl Resort
Sugar Bowl is one of the oldest ski resorts in California, founded in 1939. In recent years, they have become an escape from the weekend skiing craze. Compared to some of the larger resorts in the area, Sugar Bowl tends to have a quieter and more serene atmosphere due to limited season passes and ticket sales.
